We had the luxury of photographing Matthew’s mother’s wedding in 2014 so when Matthew popped the question to Ryoko we were so glad to see the family again.
The couple chose The Landing, Dockside, for both their ceremony and reception. The ceremony was held out on the lawn overlooking the river at 4.30pm and then guests retreated to The River Room for the reception.
Ryoko got ready at the Dockside Apartments, opting for a strapless gown and sleek french roll, underneath a 3/4 veil. Her mother walked her down the aisle to her awaiting groom. The couple’s son was as cute as pie as the in his little suit and tie.
Hand made origami place cards directed guests to their seats. Each one written in both English and Japanese. And while some brides have been known to change into a reception dress at their wedding, Ryoko decided to have a hairstyle change. She ditched her french roll for a more freestyle, messy, and fun up-do, that was perfect for dancing the night away.
We took Matthew and Ryoko out for a few photos by the river, with the lights of the Story Bridge lighting up the sky in the background. Then it was back to the dance floor with strobe lights creating fun patterns on the floor and walls as the newlyweds swayed to the music.
Matthew and Ryoko chose to include in their wedding album, the more traditional photos of the day. And then all the fun shots we compiled into a large acrylic wall print, so they could look at it everyday.
